BIOGRAPHY

Jarrod Cagwin was born in Iowa, USA. He graduated "with honors" from Berkeley College of Music under Jamey Haddad (Paul Simon) in 1996 and furthered his talent doing independent work with Glen Velez, Trichy Sankaran and Joe Galeota (Jag Drums).
He now lives in New York and enriches the underground jazz scene with his regular performances in the "Knitting Factory", at "Tonic" etc.
Since 1997 Jarrod Cagwin has undertaken numerous intensive study trips to Europe, Western Africa (Ghana - Eve, Ga, Ashanti, Dogamba music; Mali - Mandinka styles) and Northern Africa (Morocco - Berber and Gnawa styles), the Middle East and Turkey.
Since 1999 Jarrod Cagwin has been a permanent member of the Rabbih Abu Khalil Band and has worked with Charlie Mariano, Michel Godard, Dusko Goykovic, Joe Beck, Dave Samuels, Gabriele Mirabassi, Emanuelle Somer, Howard Levy and Gary Burton.
